As a service to the wrestling community, USA Wrestling has developed a comprehensive resource manual available free of charge entitled “MRSA & Other Infection Facts.”

“This new manual pertaining to the MRSA virus and other infections that can cause concerns for parents and coaches in wrestling should assist in bringing a greater awareness to the precautions and ‘what should I do?’ questions that are asked”, said Mark Scott, USAW Director of State Services. “USA Wrestling believes it is very important to keep our sport safe at every level, and this new resource manual will help educate parents, coaches, athletes and administrators about these threats against our sport.”

The document features 10 sections, each providing information from a number of respected sources concerning the topic. The sections in the guide include:

These resources have been compiled to assist the wrestling community in researching skin infections.

MRSA stands for Methicillin-Resistant Staphulococcus aureus. In simple terms, MRSA is a staph infection that is resistant to common oral antibiotics. This term has been known within medical circles, but has become a matter of public knowledge recently. Stories about MRSA, called a “super bug” by the media, have appeared all over the nation. There has been considerable concern about this within the public.

USA Wrestling encourages the all members of the wrestling community to educate themselves on these topics.
